We took a road trip to San Diego to celebrate Joey's 3rd birthday at Sea World. It has been over 1-1/2 years since we've been back as a family. It was nice to just hangout and be away from our routine at home. We had a very small celebration at Sea World. If there is anything that Joey has taught us from past experiences is to not overwhelm him. We wanted the little guy to just have a fun birthday. We anticipated being at Sea World for 1-hour, to our surprise Joey lasted 3-hours! It was really nice to have Jenny, Vince & Olivia meet us there. Joey loves hanging out with those two, so it was perfect.
My parents also had a small dinner planned at their house later that evening. My mom decorated the house with characters from the movie, Cars. Joey is really into Cars lately...so of course, Nana Nonie had a field day shopping at Party City for anything Cars-themed. Joey did get a little overwhelmed/upset at my parents' house during the blowing of the candles but the evening ended on a good note: our little family of three had a moment where we sang 'Happy Birthday' to him (very quietly), he then blew out the candles with a huge smile and had a quick taste of the frosting! Such a perfect ending to a wonderful birthday.
Love this face! He is having such a fun time!!!

At home, his birthday gift was waiting for him in his playroom (in a box). It took us a week to get settled into our routine but once the weekend arrived, we blew it up!!! He LOVES it!
