After three weeks of fighting all kinds of sicknesses, we are finally on the mend. Recap: Week 1: I got sick, Week 2: I got better, Joey got sick, I got sick again, Week 3: Joey got better, I'm still sick! Crazy. I am typically one of those people who has the 24-hour bug and then, I'm done. This time around...it has to be old age! :)
Have I mentioned I love feeling healthy. Healthy means more smiles, the checklist of things-to-do gets shorter, exercise -- wait, EXERCISE -- oh how I've missed it, more conversation, more playing, taste buds are back...all really good things! The best part of today? ...it's the first day of Spring Break for Joey. I LOVE how his break begins after everyone just finishes their spring break! His Spring Break also means "Grandparents are coming to town". There has been a slight change of plans because of us being under the weather...so now, the grandparents are visiting! To document how happy we feel -- that's us today on PhotoBooth!
Joey & I are hardly in any photos together...I love how much older he looks in this photo!
Just today we had a conversation that reminded me of how much he has grown. There's this book called "The Wheels on the Bus" where you push a button on the cover & it starts playing the song. That button, for some reason, is pretty hard to push to get the song to start playing. So, I would always have to push it while he would flip through the pages. Today, he comes up to me with the book and says, "Mama, look..." and he pushes the button and the song starts playing. He says, "Mama, I can do it!"..."remember when I was smaller I couldn't do it...I can do it now"... Soo cute! He had the biggest smile on his face! That expression of accomplishment and excitement...Love it!
The weekend before we got sick...D and I celebrated 9 years!! And, by surprise, we took a short road trip to Napa where we shared our first date!
We had three wineries in mind to visit and saved our favorite for last, Turnbull Winery.
We stopped in Berkeley for brunch on our way to Napa and visited a cheese shop to pick up some bread, cheese, sausage & dessert to take with us. Here at Turnbull, we were invited to hangout & eat our snack in their inclusive picnic area. Yes, that's the gate we entered (above). It made our day feel that much more special. So, we pulled out one of the bottles we had just purchased, our brown bag of goodies and headed to the picnic table (right). What a great experience for just the two of us to share! There was one picnic table overlooking their vineyards with a little bocci court...we didn't play but we did take photos like we were playing, ha-ha. I love how we can get away, just the two of us, to a place that has so many memories!
